Meet Our Equine Vets
Gordon Sidlow BVMS MRCVS
Gordon joined West Ridge in 1985 and spent 11 years treating horses and crashing cars. In 1996 he joined the Hong Kong Jockey Club as their first Equestrian Vet and for 12 years looked after over 1000 retired Thoroughbreds in both Hong Kong and China. During this time, he also undertook a variety of other duties including racing and serving as an official FEI Veterinary Delegate in various international competitions and as a Treating Vet for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Shortly afterwards he returned to Devon and after working in another equine practice in Mid Devon has helped to establish West Ridge Equine in January 2013.
Hannah Dennis BVetMed (hons) CertAVP (EqStudMed) MRCVS
Hannah joined West Ridge Equine in 2016. After graduating from The Royal Veterinary College in 2014, she worked in a mixed practice in North Wales for two and a half years. She then decided to specialise in equine work, and this prompted the move to the West Country and to West Ridge Equine.
Hannah developed a keen interest in stud medicine and is over the moon to recently gain her RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Stud medicine. Hannah has plans to develop the advanced breeding work at West Ridge Equine further.
Outside work Hannah can usually be found in a rowing boat, on a surfboard or looking after her young horse and modest flock of sheep.
Geoff Witherow BVM&S GPCert(BqP) MRCVS
Geoff has been at West Ridge since qualifying in 1999 and has become a core member of the large animal team. He holds a GP Certificate in Equine Practice and enjoys all aspects of equine medicine particularly fertility work including stallion semen collection, and mare insemination with fresh, chilled or frozen semen. He also has expertise and experience in farm work and is able to provide our bovine clients with an embryo implantation service. In his spare time Geoff enjoys gardening and spending time with his family.
Anna Ehrle MRCVS
Anna joined West Ridge in January 2013 for the formation of West Ridge Equine, and she now locums for us when extra help is needed. Prior to that, she had worked as a Surgical Intern at the Free University of Berlin Equine Hospital for 3 years since qualification. This gave her a huge amount of experience in all aspects of equine medicine and surgery, particularly ultrasonography and critical care of cases such as colic and sick foals. Anna hopes one day to be a leading equine academic or a top surfer.
Charlotte Radley Junior Vet
Charlotte graduated from the University of Surrey in Summer 2021 and joined West Ridge Equine shortly after as one of our Equine Interns. She is enjoying all aspects of equine practice, especially sports horse medicine and lameness, and is looking forwards to learning more and developing specific areas of interest.
Outside of work, Charlotte enjoys competing on her two horses and looking after her flock of Poll Dorset ewes.
Alice Kellam Equine Intern
Alice graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in July 2021, and joined West Ridge Equine as an Equine Intern in October.
Whilst at university, Alice was a keen member of the RVC Polo Team. Although living in Devon is very different to London, Alice is looking forward to enjoying what Devon has to offer, including exploring Dartmoor and Exmoor.
Meet The Office Team
Kirsty Brady
Kirsty has been working for West Ridge for over 25 years and is our main office manager in the Equine department. When Kirsty isn’t keeping all the equine vets in check, she can be found looking after her menagerie of children, husband and animals at home!
Leanne Hart
Leanne joined the Equine team in 2019 after managing a small animal practice locally. Leanne has a huge amount of administration experience and is our contact for any equine insurance claims. When Leanne is not at work, she enjoys riding and spending time with her family.
Charlotte Woollacott
Charlotte joined West Ridge Equine in summer 2016 and works in the office on a Wednesday. In her spare time, she enjoys competing her horses, and taking her four basset hounds out around the Devon countryside.
Molly Priddle
Molly joined West Ridge in Autumn 2021.
She recently moved down to Devon with her two ex race horses and dog Riley who you will often see in the practice. She has worked with racehorses on a prestigious racing yard in Berkshire for the past 7 years, before making the change and starting work here at West Ridge Equine.
